CANCELED: Earth Day Trail Project

This project is canceled due to the weather. It has been rescheduled for May 18, 2024.

Location: Blue Sky Trailhead

Spend a day as part of our trail crew! Wear a tie-dye shirt, NO sandals.

Volunteers will work under the direction of trail crew staff in smaller work crews to complete general maintenance. Tasks associated with general maintenance involves many aspects of trail work which could include: removing vegetation along trail corridors, cleaning rolling grade dips, removing berms, filling-in eroded sections of trail, building rock structures, lifting heavy rocks/buckets, pushing wheelbarrows, moving slash to close unauthorized trails, digging, shoveling, smashing and crushing rocks or any other fun task needed to maintain a trail. Doing this type of work involves hiking up to 3 miles while carrying hand tools and supplies needed for the day.

Project level is difficult.

Volunteers will need to bring:
Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen)
Work gloves (some will be provided)
Wear sturdy close-toed shoes
Wear long pants as you may be working in tall grass
Water & re-fillable water bottle
Insect repellant
Snacks
Clothing appropriate for the weather
Backpack (to carry it all)
Hand sanitizer (optional)

Please bring a lunch, snacks, and water as needed. We will have some water available but it is possible the water at the trailhead may not yet be turned on for the season. We will have some work gloves available, however, if you have your own we recommend you bring them.

A parking pass will be provided.
