Larimer County Offices, Courts, District Attorney, and Landfill are closed on May 29, 2017 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. Critical services at Larimer County are not disrupted by closures.
Two specialized programs for youth, an annual Youth Employment Conference and Operation Occupation, administered by the Larimer County Workforce Center have been cited by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment as "Exemplary and Innovative programs." The Youth Employment Conferences bring together economically disadvantaged youth with local employers and offer informational interviews, seminars, and keynote and endnote speakers. Operation Occupation, a summer program funded through the federal Workforce Investment Act, teaches employability skills, offers work experiences, and provides an educational component to eligible youth whose families are on TANF (Temporary Aid to Needy Families).
These programs were two of the 11 programs from Workforce Centers around the state selected for recognition from more than 50 entrants. Larimer County Workforce Center Youth Career Specialists Tami Agne-Moehle, Christi Stokely, and Mark Johnston, and Youth Council member Phyllis Thode presented an overview of these programs and received the recognition awards at a "Best Practices" Regional Symposium in Denver on November 17.
