What these data tell us:

In 2008, the majority of K-12 students in Larimer County were enrolled in public schools (91.4%), followed by non-public school enrollment (7.1%). Home-based schooling had the lowest percentage of enrollment (1.6%). The percentages do not add to 100% due to rounding. From 2004 to 2008, enrollment in non-public schools increased in the Thompson School District by 8% and in the Poudre School District by 15%.

Park School District stopped reporting any non-public enrollment after 2001, although there is one non-public school in the District. Non-public schools that receive no public funds are not required to report enrollment data; therefore some do and some do not. Eagle Rock School in Estes Park is a non-public school which does not report data to the school district.

During the last five years, growth in non-public school enrollment within Thompson School District was mostly due to an increase in enrollment at Resurrection Christian School and Immanuel Lutheran School. Three additional non-public schools began reporting data in the Thompson School District between 2001 and 2004 which accounts for at least part of the increase in enrollment. Fluctuations in non-public enrollment reflect increases and decreases in reporting, as well as school openings and closures.
