What these data tell us:

In most cases, students score higher on the math section of the CSAP test in seventh grade and then scores gradually decline through the tenth grade. This is the case statewide as well as for the individual school districts in Larimer County. The anomaly to this trend was the Park School District. It should be noted, however, that the number of students taking the test is considerably smaller in the Park School District than the other two school districts.

According to school district officials, the primary reason for the decline in math scores is that the test becomes increasingly more difficult from year to year, to the point that the tenth grade test is considered more difficult than the math portion of the ACT test.
