What these data tell us:

These data represent the distribution of types of industries owned by minorities in Colorado. Similar data for Larimer County are not available because of the small sample size. In 2002, Hispanics business owners were most likely to be in the construction business, followed by 'other'.

Of the top 6 minority-owned sectors, Hispanics owned the largest percentage of all of the sectors with the exception of Accommodation & Food Services. Asians owned the largest percentage (10.5%) of the Accommodation & Food Services businesses.

What these data tell us:

For Colorado, Larimer County, and its municipalities, the percentages of women-owned businesses in 2002 were similar, with the exception of Estes Park, where 39.1% of the businesses were owned by women. During this same period, most firms owned by women were in the 'professional, scientific & technical service' sector (18.1%). The second most prevalent type of firm was in the retail trade industry, at 15.1% of all women-owned businesses.
