AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE DRUG SCREENING IS DEFINED AS OBTAINING A NEGATIVE
DRUG SCREENING RESULT.
A first
line, at will, working supervisor who plans, organizes, supervises,
participates in, and reviews the work of a team of assigned personnel engaged
in any combination of, but not limited to, the repair, maintenance, and
construction of native, gravel, and paved surface roadways, associated
structures, and drainage systems, mining and production of crushed aggregate
material, and hauling of roadway maintenance and construction equipment and
material. These positions perform a variety of heavy equipment operating,
supervisory, personnel, and administrative duties while directing a team of
assigned personnel in the Larimer County Road and Bridge Department field operations arena. May be assigned to any
work activity at any location in Larimer County at the discretion of the Road and
Bridge Director.
Fair
Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status: Non-exempt; this position is eligible for overtime pay
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Employees in this classification operate the primary pieces
of equipment, as shown below, satisfactorily. They must also be appropriately
licensed and adept in the operation of the equipment included in their
secondary category.
Primary: Lead Blade
Secondary: All equipment types included in
lower classified positions (Master, Senior, Journey and Apprentice Heavy
Equipment Operator Series).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervise,
evaluate, coach, train, and discipline assigned personnel.

need for, coordinate, and participate in snow and ice control activities.

Subject too
non-restrictive call back 24-hours a day, 365 days of the year for situations
including but not limited to snow plowing, wild-land fires, floods, and other
occurrences.

Plan,
coordinate, evaluate, and adjust the activities and personnel involved in the:
·
Maintenance,
repair, and construction of roadway drainage structures including wood, metal,
and concrete bridges and culverts.
·
Plowing snow and
snow and ice control activities.
·
Maintenance,
repair, and construction of gravel and native surface roads including grading
and surface stabilization.
·
Mining
and the production of crushed aggregate, hauling and placing of roadway
construction and maintenance materials.
SUPERVISION
RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
·
Receives
general direction from a Road and Bridge Functional Group Manager/District
Supervisor.
·
Exercises
direct supervision over assigned personnel, suppliers and contractors.
·
May
exercise direct and indirect supervision over other employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge
of some or all, depending on functional assignment:

Principals and
practices of:
- Project
management.
- Personnel
management and supervision.
- Asphalt
pavement life cycle management including, but not limited to, patching,
seal coat, chip seal, crack filling, reconstruction, and overlay.
- Street/highway
construction and/or maintenance and work zone practices.
- Roadway
structures construction and/or maintenance.
- Gravel
and native surface roadway construction and/or maintenance.
- Snow and
ice control.
- Roadside
drainage systems.
- Construction
and realignment earthwork.

Characteristics
and uses of HBP (HMA) pavement, PCC pavement, and other paving

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Candidates must document all

Education:
·
High School Diploma
or GED.
Experience: Must have a Larimer County Position
Classification for Senior Operator III or higher. Candidates without such a classification
may submit a completed application for the Team Leader position and then will
be tested for the Senior Operator III classification as part of the hiring process. (Must
have a Class “A” CDL with air brake, Haz-Mat and tanker endorsements.)

Documented
supervisory/management experience required AND
·
Five years of
relevant progressively more responsible experience in:
- Asphalt
roadway construction and/or maintenance, or
- Road
drainage, structure construction, and/or maintenance, or
- Gravel
and native surface roadway, maintenance, repair and work zone practices,
or.
- Construction,
repair and maintenance of roadside drainage systems, or
- Earthwork
practices, or
- Paved
roadway maintenance regimes, or
- Mining
and production of aggregate.
Licenses: Candidates must document
license, class, and endorsements on the application to receive consideration.

Possession of,
and ability to maintain, a Class “A” CDL
Driver’s License with air brake, Haz-Mat, and tanker endorsements without “K”
or “NTT” restrictions.
·
Possession of,
and ability to maintain, a DOT Medical Certificate.
·
Ability to
obtain a Colorado Flaggers Certification within six months of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
·
Must be capable
of negotiating flights of stairs to reach upper story offices.
·
Ability to
operate heavy equipment and a motor vehicle.
·
May be required to lift, carry, drag, or push boxes or equipment up to
50 pounds.
·
Must be able to pull open a truck’s hood and other equipment requiring
100 pounds of force.
·
May be required to stoop, bend, stretch, twist, reach, kneel, squat,
and balance.
·
Must be able to get into and out of vehicle/heavy equipment.
·
Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
·
Must be able to work in a day light and night environment.
·
Must be able to work outdoors in an extreme hot, cold, dry, or wet
environment.

Must be able to work in hazardous or dangerous work areas or

Must have
