RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY 5:00 P.M. ON THE CLOSING DATE.
Performs a variety of
specialized processing, clerical, and customer service functions for the
Treasurer’s Office. Performs research and provides information related to
property taxes to the general public.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
·
Perform customer
service functions such as receiving and processing tax payments and answering
and researching taxpayer questions; balance daily receipts; research returned
mail problems.
·
Calculate taxes
amounts including fees, interest, and other related charges to the taxpayer.
·
Perform routine
research of names, addresses, and ownership within public records to respond to
public inquiries.
·
Perform clerical
and customer service duties for annual Tax Lien Sale; maintain files, certificates,
correspondence, and other related information; assist attendees with
documentation and information.
·
Prepare and
process certificates of tax due, including mobile home and associated moving
permits.
·
Prepare and
process delinquent tax notices and related letters; process and track payments;
respond and research questions and inquiries from interested parties.
·
Assist other
Treasurer staff within assigned area by performing backup duties, maintaining
and tracking information and records, responding to inquiries, and conducting
research.
·
Process other
types of Treasurer’ transactions including redemptions, mass payments, and
account balancing.
·
Verify and/or
collect payment for re-platted schedule numbers.
·
Prepare, review,
and process Certificate of Taxes Due, to include scanning, indexing, verifying,
billing, and service related to CTDs.
·
Perform other
clerical duties as required by the Office.

Perform other

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge
of:
·
Standard
bookkeeping practices and methods including accounts payable, accounts
receivable, payroll, and journal entries.
·
Routine software
and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing,
spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
·
Modern office
practices and procedures.
·
Scope and application of laws and regulations pertaining to Treasurer’s
programs.
·
Treasurer’s Office procedures and processes.
Ability
to:
·
Establish and
maintain effective working relationships with other County employees,
representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the
community.
·
Provide
professional customer service to clients and public.
·
Communicate
clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
·
Perform typing
functions within required words per minute.
·
Read and
research elected official office records, plats, and maps.
·
Perform duties
independently without close supervision.
Experience and Training: Any combination of experience and
training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is
qualifying.
Experience:
·
One year of
experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties
and responsibilities within a Treasurer’s Office.
Training:
·
Equivalent to
the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by basic bookkeeping courses.
