Under the supervision of the Immunization
Program Nursing Supervisor and with the guidance of other clinic nurses,
provides a variety of skilled nursing care and related immunization and
communicable disease services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following
statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not
include other nonessential or peripheral duties that may be required. The
organization retains the right to modify or change the duties or essential
functions of the job at any time.

Assist
and/or conduct influenza immunization clinics throughout Larimer County.
·
Interpret
the appropriate type (inactivated, injectable or live, attenuated, nasal spray)
and dose volume (child or adult) of vaccine to be used from guidance given.
·
Administer
vaccine.
·
Appropriately
dispose of “sharps”.
·
Observe
vaccine recipients in the post-vaccination observation areas for reactions or
complications.
·
Administer
and monitor prescribed medications and injections as appropriate.
·
Maintain
accurate and complete client files and records.
·
Work
within the County and Health Department policies, rules, and regulations.
·
Serve
as a resource to community agencies, schools, and other organizations as
appropriate.
·
Attend
meetings as required.
OTHER DUTIES:
·
Perform
other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job, including
those on weekends and after usual work hours.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
·
General
nursing or medical knowledge, principles, practices, objectives, methods, and
techniques in assigned area.
·
Understanding
of proper vaccination techniques.
·
Understanding
of normal and abnormal post vaccination responses.
·
Be
prepared to recognize, respond to, and alert emergency medical personnel of
possible post vaccination reactions and other medical emergencies that occur
within vaccination area.
·
Medical
diagnosis, symptoms, and proper nursing/medical measures in implementing
appropriate care in regards to clinic activities.
ABILITY TO:
·
Perform
duties independently without close supervision.
·
Establish
and maintain effective working and therapeutic relationships with other County
employees, patients, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and
members of the community.
·
Maintain
sensitive and confidential information.
·
Follow
written and verbal instructions.
·
Prepare
and maintain clear and concise charts and records.
·
Effectively
respond to conflict situations and people in conflict.
·
Communicate
clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
·
Organize
material and present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written

with high-risk individuals and families in a non-judgmental manner which
inspires trust and respect.
·
Ability
to work providing immunizations for at least a five-hour shift.
·
Provide
own transportation to and from clinics.
·
Provide
licensure information.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of
experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and
abilities is qualifying.
Education:
·
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy with Board approved immunization training.
·
RN,
Physician, LPN, or qualified EMT who has received technical training in
administration of injections.
