If you hire someone to care for a loved one while you work, call your mom weekly to see if she is okay, help a parent with finances, take your spouse to doctor's appointments, or have a loved one living with a chronic illness, then this class is designed just for you. A Coalition including the Larimer County Office on Aging is sponsoring four 6-week classes, scheduled to start soon, titled Powerful Tools for Caregivers:

• Tuesdays, January 29 – March 5, 12:00 – 1:45 p.m., Center for Neurorehabilitation Services, 1045 Robertson St., Fort Collins. Call 493-6667 to register.
• Wednesdays, February 20 – March 27, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m., Immanuel Lutheran Church, 4650 Sunview Dr., Loveland. Call 667-4506 to register.
• Mondays, February 25 – April 8, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital, 1 mile east of 1-25, off of Hwy. 34, Loveland. Call 619-3477 to register.
• Thursdays, March 7 – April 11, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Parkwood Estates, 2201 South Lemay Ave., Fort Collins. Call 482-3924 to register.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers helps family caregivers acquire ‘tools’ to increase their self- confidence. If you care for yourself; it will benefit the person you are caring for. You will learn how to: reduce stress, better communicate your feelings, balance your life, deal with difficult emotions, and locate helpful resources. This class is offered at no-cost and is intended to help you ‘thrive’ as a caregiver, not just ‘survive’.
