At approximately 1755 hours, on 072817, Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) Officers was dispatched to Spring Creek Park located on West Horsetooth Road in Fort Collins on a report of reckless shooting in the area. Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputies and Larimer County Department of Natural Resources Park Rangers also responded in an effort to assist FCPS Officers in determining the location where the gunshots were occurring. FCPS Officers arrived in the area and determined the shooting was occurring in the 2800 Balk of W. CR 38 E, in unincorporated Larimer County. Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputies took over the investigation once it was determined that the incident was occurring outside the city limits of Fort Collins.

Deputies and officers contacted the property owner at 2832 W. CR 38E in Fort Collins and determined that the resident had been target shooting in a field on his property, shooting handguns and a rifle. Deputies also determined that the backstop being used was inadequate, as rounds were impacting outside of his property. One unoccupied vehicle, parked in the parking lot on the south side of Spring Canyon Park was believed to have been struck by a small caliber round originating from the above-listed location, causing damage to the windshield. No one was injured and no other damage has been reported.

The property owner, Mr. Hee-hun Cho, was issued a summons and released. Mr. Cho was cited for 18-3-208, Reckless Endangerment (1 count) and 18-4-501(1)(a) Criminal Mischief (1 count). The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty
Anyone whose vehicle may have been damaged in this incident and or has any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputy Corey Wagner at 970-416-1985.
