Saturday Programs Offered at the Garbage Garage Education Center

Larimer County, Colorado—The Garbage Garage, Larimer County’s waste and recycling education center, is offering a series of monthly Saturday programs beginning October 24, 2009, and running through June 5, 2010. Due to visitor requests, some programs are for ages 12 to adult only while others are open for all ages and families. All programs are free and materials provided unless otherwise noted when registering.

·         October 24, 2009: T-Shirt Magic. Learn to repurpose those outgrown and unwanted t-shirts into new items. Adults.
·         November 21, 2009: Vericomposting. Learn to compost indoors with worms by making your own vericomposter to take home. Family.
·         December 12, 2009: Recycle 2009 Calendars. Turn them into beautiful beads for yourself or for gifts. Family.
·         January 16, 2010: Make Your Own Cleaning Products. Clean greener by using non-toxic cleaners you’ll make yourself. Adult.
·         February 13, 2010: Have a Heart-How You Can Make a Difference: Learn ways you can help your home, your school and your        community take care of the earth. Family.
·         March 6, 2010: Getting Ready to Garden. Learn about “lasagna gardening” and make colorful garden flags to celebrate the first day of Spring. Adult.
·         April, 24, 2010: Garbage Garage Open House and Earth Day Celebration, 10 a.m. to  2 p.m. Everyone!
·         May 15, 2010: Fanciful Fences. Help decorate the Garbage Garage fence and learn how to make fanciful fences and fun items for your garden from discards and other items. Family.
·         June 5, 2010: What’s Up at the Landfill? Join us for an informative tour and go behind the scenes to learn more about the new methane gas collection system, water, and more. Adult.
 
All classes will be held at the Garbage Garage Education Center at the Larimer County Landfill, 5887 S. Taft Hill Road, Fort Collins from 10 a.m. to Noon. Sessions are free but registration is required, as space is limited.
