Four grand prize winners were chosen from 16 finalists in the 6th annual Reusable Art Contest, sponsored by the Larimer County Solid Waste Department. The finalists were divided into four age categories for judging: K-3rd grade, 4th-6th grade, 7th-9th grade, and 10th-12th grade. Visitors to the Garbage Garage Education Center’s Earth Day open house on April 19 voted for their favorite artwork made from trash or scrap items, with the top vote-getter from each age group garnering blue ribbons.
“It's always fun to see the creativity of these kids,” said Rose Watson, education center attendantor. "They come up with the most amazing things, and judging was tough!"

Each winner was awarded a prize bag of “recycling goodies” and a cash prize, and their artwork will be on public display at the Garbage Garage for one year. The remaining finalists each received a prize bag as well.
The Reusable Art Contest is held every spring and is open to K-12 students throughout Larimer County. The Garbage Garage, located at the Larimer County Landfill, is the Solid Waste Department’s award-winning waste and recycling education center.
