Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious disease that is spread from person to person through the air by droplets that are coughed up by a person who has active, pulmonary (lung) TB disease. TB disease may also affect other parts of the body such as the bones and joints.

Someone who has active TB disease may have fever, night sweats, chest pain, prolonged productive cough, and sometimes may cough up blood. They may also have weight loss, loss of appetite, and become tired very easily.

Worldwide, TB has become the number one cause of death by an infectious disease, surpassing HIV/Aids, with 4,400 victims each day.

TB still exists in Larimer County. Birth in a  country with high to moderate-risk for TB remains the strongest risk factor for developing active TB disease in Colorado, followed by diabetes.

TB Testing

We do not provide routine TB testing that may be required for school or work to low-risk individuals.

If you are in need of a TB skin test for employment or education, please contact your organization‘s occupational health department or your school‘s administrative staff for more information on where to be tested.
